1. First-time international luxury hotel travelers without expectation calibration. Bali luxury properties at IDR 4M+/night still have 15-20% service variance. If your expectation is ‘pay top dollar = zero issues,’ you’ll be disappointed. Better fit: book mid-tier (IDR 1.8-2.8M) with realistic expectations.
2. Time-constrained travelers (≤4 nights). Luxury hotel value compounds over 5+ nights. For 3-night stops, the price-per-utilization math doesn’t favor luxury tier.
3. Travelers without specific ‘luxury feature’ priorities (private pool / butler / spa). If you’d be equally happy at 4-star, the 5-star premium is wasted. Better fit: identify the 1-2 features actually worth paying for; pick mid-tier with those features specifically.
