Most travel guides give you a list of rules. This guide explains the why — and that’s the difference between following instructions and actually understanding what’s happening around you.
You’ve read ‘don’t tip in Japan.’ But do you know why? And why tipping in Thailand is fine but tipping in certain contexts is offensive? And why the same bow that means ‘thank you’ in Japan means something completely different in Korea?
One traveler used this guide before her first Japan trip and said: ‘I didn’t just avoid embarrassing myself — I actually understood what I was seeing. It made the whole trip feel different.’
What’s inside:
- 🇯🇵 Japan — the ‘why’ behind every rule you’ve been told to follow
- 🇰🇷 Korea — hierarchy, dining etiquette, what Koreans actually think of tourists
- 🇹🇭 Thailand — temple protocol, the wai, why the smile means different things
- 🇮🇩 Bali — sacred spaces, offerings, how not to be the tourist everyone resents
- 🤝 Universal Asia signals — face, silence, indirect communication across all cultures
