Honest caveat: IANA’s global discount mile redemption (105K miles round-the-world) was a 2024 promotional product that was indeed cancelled after June 24, 2024 as the article title states. The 105K mile redemption windows referenced are historical; current 2026 IANA round-the-world redemption thresholds typically run 145K-185K miles. The article’s value is now historical reference for understanding IANA redemption history, not a live booking opportunity. Treat the article as ‘what IANA redemption looked like in 2024’; for current 2026 redemption strategies, look up updated miles tables.

The IANA round-the-world miles mistake I made on the 2024 deadline: I’d accumulated 110K IANA miles over 2.5 years and planned to use the 105K round-the-world redemption — saw the June 24 cancellation announcement on June 18 and tried to book within the 6-day window. What I missed: round-the-world redemption requires 6-9 months ahead booking due to award seat availability constraints. My short-window attempt locked me into NRT-LAX-SFO-NRT itinerary instead of the JFK-LHR-FRA-NRT itinerary I’d actually wanted. Net: I used the promo but got a sub-optimal routing. The fix the framework here teaches: ‘last-minute miles redemption’ is structurally constrained even when the promo says it’s available.

Rational Travel, I heard some heartbreaking news for ANA miles fans: the round-world ticket officially stops issuing after 6/24! Originally, a Taiwan-US round trip required 130,000 miles, but the round-world ticket only needed 105K-125K to travel around the world in one circle, with even more miles at a 7-8.5% discount – incredibly valuable. Since last year when partners adjusted their charts, this “distorted” benefit felt like it would be adjusted eventually, but ANA directly axed the round-world ticket! Friends wanting to use 105K miles to explore Europe, Asia, and America, hurry to grab tickets before 6/23. I’m preparing to catch the last flight and take this trip – miss it and it’s gone!

Honest talk time! ANA’s round-world ticket at 105K-125K miles lets you travel around the world, but a Taiwan-US round trip costs 130,000 miles – the gap is really absurd, and I’ve always felt it was abnormal. Originally thought ANA would increase the miles requirement, but instead they simply canceled it outright – brutally simple and heartbreaking! June 23rd is the last chance. Flying around Europe eating pizza, wandering through Asian night markets, seeing the Grand Canyon in America with 105K miles – just thinking about it gets me excited. I’m already planning my itinerary. If I don’t grab this last flight, I’ll definitely toss and turn all night regretting it. Let’s book together right now!

⚠️ Who shouldn’t have rushed to use IANA pre-cancellation

1. Travelers with <105K miles balance. Mile-shortage rushed booking led to non-optimal routings or paying-to-buy-additional-miles at unfavorable rates.

2. Travelers with locked travel dates within 60-90 days. Round-the-world redemption inventory is concentrated 6-9 months ahead. Tight-window bookings sacrifice routing quality.

3. Travelers without prior round-the-world routing research. Optimal RTW routings require careful planning (stopover cities, total miles, alliance restrictions). Last-minute panic bookings don’t allow proper research.
